Following an extensive and highly competitive recruitment process, Benedict Leigh has been appointed Director of Integrated Commissioning for Gloucestershire County Council and NHS Gloucestershire Integrated Care Board.

Benedict joins from Southend City Council where he is currently Director of Commissioning responsible for adults and children’s services, and public health.

He has considerable experience across local government, the voluntary sector and the NHS, holding several senior commissioning roles. His background includes running a mental health charity, as well as campaigning and advocacy with deafblind people.

The Director of Integrated Commissioning works across the One Gloucestershire Integrated Care System (ICS) to shape services and make sure they meet the needs of local people.

The ICS partnership aims to deliver more joined-up support and services within communities to address health inequalities and improve health and wellbeing.

Benedict will take up his new role in Gloucestershire with effect from 22 May 2023.
