Gloucestershire has delivered one of its strongest seasonal vaccination programmes to date. Uptake for both COVID and flu rose compared with last year and performance remains among the best in England.

By the end of January, more than 74,000 COVID booster vaccines had been given. Uptake among eligible groups reached 69 percent. This is higher than the 65.5 percent achieved in 2024/25 and places Gloucestershire second nationally.

More than 269,000 people have received a flu vaccine, an increase of over 9,000 on last year. Uptake is more than 65 percent, around 3 percent higher than 2024/25 and among the highest in the country. Improvements are particularly strong among two- and three-year-olds and frontline healthcare workers. Uptake in school-aged children has also risen, with more than 67,000 pupils vaccinated and targets exceeded across primary and secondary schools.

Strong partnership working between GPs, community pharmacies, hospitals and outreach teams has ensured good access. Gloucestershire has met or exceeded almost all national vaccination ambitions, helping limit the winter pressures seen elsewhere.
