74% of those eligible for the COVID booster in autumn/winter 2023 took up the offer in Gloucestershire, making the county the highest for vaccine uptake in England.

This success is testament to the hardworking vaccination teams who once again worked tirelessly to ensure everyone who needed a booster was able to access one.

As ever, it was a truly collaborative ‘One Gloucestershire’ effort, with teams across the county working together and providing vaccinations through our GP-led Primary Care Network vaccination sites, pharmacies, hospital hub, care homes and at countless community outreach drop-ins.

Teams are now preparing to provide a spring ‘top-up’ to some of the most vulnerable in our community following confirmation from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) that residents in older people’s care homes, those aged 75 and over and the severely immunosuppressed should be offered a top-up from late April.

Those eligible will receive an invite to book an appointment directly from local NHS services when it’s their turn.
