NHS Gloucestershire has produced guidelines to help to support you by identifying any help needed in taking your medication in the safest way under best practice NICE Guidelines and the Equality Act 2010.

These guidelines support Community Pharmacy to review patients and provide assessments, ensuring any patients who may require assistance when taking their medications at home receive the most appropriate help.

Community Pharmacies and GP Practices in Gloucestershire have been asked to work together to implement this guidance.

If you are struggling with your medicines at home, your community pharmacy is the best place to help.

Your local pharmacist’s job is to check how you take your medications and help you do it safely, following best practice and making sure everyone is treated fairly.

If you currently use a weekly medicine tray, also known as a dosette or multi- compartment compliance aid (MCA), your Community Pharmacy may decide to check if it’s still the best support for you.

Following the re-assessment, your Community Pharmacist may conclude a weekly medicine tray is not the best option for you and may suggest a suitable alternative.
